What Must The Debt Collector Tell You

Many people want to know what must the debt collector tell you about the debt they are trying to collect.

A debt collector must tell you certain things about the debt that they are attempting to collect on. For instance, within five days after you are first contacted, the collector must send you a written notice telling you the amount of money you owe; the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money; and what action to take if you believe you do not owe the money. If you do not receive this information, they may be committing an FDCPA violation!
